It’s been a struggle getting my kids to complete their homework this year. This week we read a story and they were required to complete comprehension questions for homework.
Normally, about 75% - 80% of the students would show up with their homework. Not bad, but not great.
Not this time! This time 68 of my 71 students returned their homework! Yes, only 3 students did not return with homework in hand.
Why? A desirable carrot!
I told them that all students who returned the assignment would get to watch the movie version of the story on Friday. Movies are great carrots! The promise of a movie was enough to spur even my laziest students to do their homework!
If only I could show a movie every week!
